For builders and architects

Ground loops for new builds

A loop goes in before the landscaping, and the heat pump after the drywall. We plan both around your schedule.

What you get from us

  • A mechanical room size and layout before framing

  • Loop timing set against excavation and landscaping

  • Rough-in, start-up and inspection dates in writing

  • One contact on our side for the whole job

The sequence

Where we are on your schedule.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Design review

We read the plans for load, room for the heat pump and a route for pipe.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Loop

Bores or trenches go in while the site is open, then are tested and capped.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Rough-in

Ducts or floor tubing and the heat pump's connections, after framing.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Start-up

Heat pump set, loop flushed and filled, controls tested.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Inspection and hand-over

We meet the inspector, then walk the owner through the system.

What we need from you

Three things early.

  • Plans and site survey

Floor plans, elevations and where the septic field and well are.

  • Excavation window

When the site is open and when the landscaper arrives.

  • An electrical plan

The heat pump needs its own circuit and room in the panel.

Builders ask.

Who does the drilling?

A separate drilling firm, Fischer Drilling, bores the field for us. Your quote names who is responsible for what, from the bores to the restored lawn.

Does a loop need permits?

Often. Drilling, buried pipe, electrical and mechanical work can each need one, depending on the township and county. We file them and list them on your quote.

What does it cost?

It depends on the loop, the soil and the house, so we price each job on paper after a site visit. The pricing page lists what decides the number and what the quote includes.

Planning a build?

Send the plans or the lot and we'll say what the loop needs and when.
